Government action amid rising power crisis, 657 passenger train canceled to deliver coal rake soon

New Delhi: The Modi government has canceled 657 passenger trains so that coal rakes can reach the thermal power plants soon and the power crisis is over. The government has taken a big decision to overcome the power crisis that has arisen in the country due to the highest demand for electricity and shortage of coal. These days, people are facing a power crisis in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat amid strong sunlight and heat.

In order to provide quick access to coal to thermal power stations across the country, the central government has decided to cancel passenger trains. This, due to the cancellation of passenger trains, goods trains with coal-laden rakes will get quick passage and they will be able to cover the distance to thermal power stations in less time. Due to the shortage of coal, many states are facing a power crisis. The power outage this summer season is causing problems for the people. In view of this, the government has taken this decision.

The country’s Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi said that at present the situation remains stable. We have stock coal of about 3 million tonnes, while the thermal power plant has 21 million tonnes in coal reserves. He told that due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the supply of gas has stopped. In such a situation, the demand has become more during the scorching heat. However, considering the daily consumption of 2.5 billion units, about 3.5 billion units of electricity are being generated at present. Here NTPC has also said that all 6 units of Dadri and 5 units of Unchahar are running at full capacity. The supply of coal is also getting continuously.
