
Hyderabad: On the occasion of Dussehra, a statue of the Goddess was decorated with Rs. One crore notes in a temple in the South Indian state of Telangana. These notes were decorated with flowers in the Kanyaka Parameswari Goddess temple of Kanya, Telangana. The news of offering sacrifices to the Goddess using notes on such a large scale is getting a lot of discussion on social media.

According to a report published on NDTV, Devi’s entire make-up was done with notes. Everything from garlands to flowers in front were made of notes. Other deities present in the temple were also adorned with garlands of notes.
According to the treasurer of the temple, P Ramu, last year more than 30 million currency notes were used in the worship of the goddess in the temple. He said- ‘This year the number of notes was less than last year. This is due to the economic hardship caused by the corona virus epidemic. ‘ He informed that these notes are given by the people of the local community for worship. These notes are returned to them after the pooja is over. This year’s Devi’s makeup was paid for by 40-50 people.
Significantly, the goddess is worshiped in various forms throughout the year. The goddess who is adorned with notes in the temple is called Dhanalakshmi.
