
Mumbai: As Ganesh Chaturthi (Ganesh Chaturthi 2023) approaches on 19th September, devotees in Mumbai are gearing up to welcome their beloved deity, Bappa, with great fervour. Along with the grand decorations and festivities, some of the famous Ganesh pandals in the city have also taken care of the security and safety of Bappa and his devotees by opting for huge insurance cover.
King Circle GSB Seva Mandal, one of the richest Ganesh mandals in Mumbai, has taken an insurance cover of Rs 360 crore from New India Assurance. The insurance cover includes:
- Bappa’s gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 38.47 crore
- Furniture, fixtures, computers, CCTV cameras, QR scanners, utensils, etc. worth Rs 2 crore
- Public liability cover for pandals, stadiums, devotees etc. worth Rs 30 crore
- Personal accident cover for volunteers, acharyas, cooks, carts, chappal stall workers, valet parking persons, security guards etc. worth Rs 289.50 crore
- Fire and special peril cover for the venue worth Rs 43 lakh
Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati Mandal, another popular Ganesh mandal in Mumbai, has also taken an insurance cover of Rs 26.54 crore for its Bappa and his devotees. The insurance cover includes:
- Personal accident cover for devotees, volunteers etc. worth Rs 12 crore
- Bappa’s gold, silver and jewellery worth Rs 7.04 crore
- Third-party liability worth Rs 5 crore
- Public liability cover for pandal, stadium, devotees etc. worth Rs 2.50 crore

These insurance covers are meant to protect Bappa and his devotees from any unforeseen mishaps or calamities during the 10-day festival.
