New Delhi: The Defense Ministry on Tuesday said events like a grand fly-past of 75 Indian Air Force aircraft, cultural performance by 480 dancers selected through a competitive process, 10 scrolls of 75 meters in length, and installation of 10 large LED screens. On Wednesday, the Republic Day parade will be for the first time. The Republic Day Parade-2022, being held in the 75th year of India’s independence, is being celebrated as the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ across the country, the ministry said in a statement.
It noted, “The Grand Finale and the most awaited segment fly-past of the parade will see 75 aircraft of the Indian Air Force for the first time as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.” The ministry said that for the first time, the Indian Air Force has coordinated with Doordarshan to show the video of the cockpit during the fly-past.
The old and present modern aircraft fly-past like Rafale, Sukhoi, Jaguar, Mi-17, Sarang, Apache, and Dakota were made of various combinations (formations) including Rahat, Meghna, Eklavya, Trishul, Tiranga, Vijay, and Amrit, the statement said. will perform. The ministry said that for the first time, 10 scrolls of 75 meters in length and 15 feet in height will be displayed on the Rajpath during the parade. “They (scrolls) were prepared during the ‘Kala Kumbh’ event jointly organized by the Ministries of Defense and Culture,” the statement said. These scrolls were painted in two phases at Bhubaneswar and Chandigarh by over 600 eminent artists and young artists from across the country.
The Defense Ministry said that for the first time, the artists performing during the cultural program in the parade have been selected through a nationwide competition. It said that the competition ‘Vande Bharatam’ started at the district level with the participation of about 3,870 dancers in 323 groups in which the performers reached the state and zonal level programs over a period of two months in November and December. The statement said, “Ultimately, 480 dancers were selected. They will showcase their talent during the parade at Rajpath.
The Defense Ministry mentioned that 10 large LED screens will be installed on either side of the Rajpath in numbers of five each for better viewing of the parade. It said, “Footage from previous Republic Day parades, short films on armed forces, and films based on stories from various events related to the pre-Republic Day Parade-2022 will be screened before the parade.” After this, the live telecast of the parade will be shown on the screen, the ministry said.
