The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Jersey City Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 29-year-old female student from India who went missing from New Jersey over four years ago. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to her location or recovery.
Mayushi Bhagat was last seen on April 29, 2019, leaving her apartment in Jersey City, wearing colorful pajama pants and a black T-shirt. Her family reported her missing to the police on May 1, 2019. She was in the US on an F1 student visa and was studying at the New York Institute of Technology. She speaks English, Hindi, and Urdu and has friends in South Plainfield, New Jersey. She was born in India in July 1994.
The FBI Newark Field Office stated on December 14, 2021, urging anyone with information about Bhagat, her whereabouts, or her disappearance, to contact them at 973-792-3000, or the Jersey City Police Department at 855-JCP-TIPS (527-8477). They could receive a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to her location or recovery.
The FBI also added Bhagat to its list of “Missing Persons” and posted her Missing Person poster on the Most Wanted page of its website under the list of “Kidnappings/Missing Persons.” Bhagat is described as 5’10 with black hair and brown eyes.
The FBI and the Jersey City Police are hoping that the public’s help will lead to the resolution of Bhagat’s case and bring closure to her family and friends.
