Farmers Gear Up for Protest March to Delhi

New Delhi: Farmers from Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna region are set to march to Delhi today under the banner of Kisan Morcha, voicing demands for fair compensation and better land policies. The protest, expected to culminate near the Mahamaya Flyover at noon, will see farmers arriving with tractors as a show of strength. Delhi Police, anticipating disruptions, has ramped up preparations to manage the protest.

Key Demands Driving the March

  1. Fourfold Compensation: Farmers are demanding compensation for land acquisition in Gautam Buddha Nagar, in line with other parts of the state.
  2. Circle Rate Revision: The circle rates, unchanged for the past decade, are a major concern for farmers seeking fair valuation.
  3. 10% Developed Land Allocation: Farmers are pressing for a share of developed land, which has been categorically refused by local authorities.

Despite their demands being rejected by the administration, the farmers are determined to press forward, aiming to surround Parliament and bring their grievances to national attention.

Traffic Disruptions and Police Preparations

Commuters in Delhi and Noida are bracing for significant traffic snarls as the protest unfolds. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued advisories to mitigate congestion, especially near Mahamaya Flyover, DND Flyway, and Chilla Border.

Traffic Diversion Plan

  • For Jam at Mahamaya Flyover or Noida-Greater Noida Expressway:
Vehicles will be rerouted via Sector-128 cut and Sector-94 Charkha Roundabout towards Delhi through Kalindi Kunj.
  • For Traffic from Kalindi Kunj to Noida:
Traffic will be directed via Sector-37 and Sector-18.
  • From Greater Noida to Noida:
Vehicles will use alternate loops through Kalindi Kunj and Mahamaya Flyover towards Sector-37.

Officials emphasize that diversions will be implemented dynamically based on real-time congestion levels.
