A 38-year-old farmer, Amresh Singh, hails from Karamdih village in Navinagar block in Aurangabad district of Bihar. He is the first farmer in India to cultivate hop-shoots. Let me tell you that six years ago, he sold one kilogram of hop-shoots in the international market for 1000 pounds, which is about one lakh rupees in Indian rupees. Hop-shoots are extremely popular in the Indian market and are specially ordered.

In the context of this farming, Amresh Singh says that if the special steps to promote the cultivation of hop-shoots, the farmers will benefit greatly. There will be an increase of about 10 times in their income. Presently, Hop-shoots are cultivated by the Agricultural Scientist of Indian Vegetable Research Institute, Varanasi. It is being done under the supervision of Lal.

He says that he brought the seeds of this vegetable from the Indian Vegetable Research Institute in Varanasi two months ago and planted it in his field. At the same time he hopes that this will change his farming and his hard work will be successful.
