Rajgarh(MP): In a startling revelation, Deepak Joshi, a former minister from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, has disclosed that elected officials, including MPs and MLAs, receive a commission of Rs 1 lakh for each bus stop constructed in their jurisdiction. During a campaign event for Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate Digvijay Singh, Joshi admitted to having accepted a portion of such commissions himself.
Joshi, who is the son of former Chief Minister Kailash Joshi, has had a long political career, serving as an MLA and even as the Education Minister in the Shivraj government. However, his journey took a turn when he lost the 2018 elections and subsequently distanced himself from the BJP following internal party dynamics and the shifting allegiances post the fall of the Kamal Nath government.
The allegations have stirred controversy, especially as they come amidst the campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with voting in the Rajgarh constituency scheduled for May 7. Joshi’s comments have cast a shadow on the practices within political circles and raised questions about the integrity of public infrastructure projects.
