New Delhi: Elon Musk’s company Starlink can soon enter the world of the Internet in India. The Government of India is engaged in removing the problems coming in the business of Starlink.
The Department of Telecommunications- DoT has started simplifying the approval process for launching satellite-based broadband services. Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Communications and Bharti Group-backed OneWeb are the two big companies to launch broadband and other services in the country.
What did the Department of Telecommunications say?
In the program of Satcom Industry Association, DOT Deputy Director-General S.Niranian said “We are also simplifying the procedures for the satellite network so that it takes the least amount of time,”.
Recently, Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan told in Parliament that Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Communications has applied for an experimental and trial license in DoT. He said that Starlink India wants to apply for all the necessary licenses and authorizations to provide its service.
Tips to stay away from Starlink
DoT has directed Starlink to refrain from booking satellite-based internet services before obtaining the required license. It was said by the government that this Elon Musk company has not yet been issued a license for satellite internet in India. In such a situation, there is an appeal to people not to buy subscriptions to its services.
This month, Starlink’s India director Sanjay Bhargava said that they will apply for a commercial license by early 2022 to provide broadband and other services.
Bhargava had said in a LinkedIn post, “We hope to have applied for the license on or before January 31, 2022.”
Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), in its consultation paper on ease of doing business in the telecom and broadcasting sector, has sought views on making all permissions online and setting up a single window.
Internet at affordable cost
SpaceX is a satellite internet service provider owned by SpaceX Starlink. Starlink will provide its service in India at a cheaper price than the rest of the international market.
It is being said that Starlink will offer subscription plans in India at a very low rate. Initially, the company is focusing on such areas of India, where it is very difficult to access internet service.
