New Delhi: Amid growing concern over Omicron, the new form of Coronavirus, the head of the Covid Task Force, VK Paul on Tuesday said that India should have such a vaccine platform that will keep pace with the changing nature of the virus. Quickly adaptable”.
Addressing an event organized by industry body CII, Paul said that he expects the COVID-19 pandemic in India to be endemic, with low and moderate levels of infection continuing.
He said, “There is a possible scenario that our vaccines may be ineffective in the emerging circumstances. In the last three weeks between Omicron’s revelations, we’ve seen how many suspicions have emerged, some of which may be genuine, yet we still don’t have the final picture in front of us.”
NITI Aayog member Paul said, “Therefore, it is essential for us to ensure that we have a rapidly adaptable vaccine platform. We have to prepare ourselves for a situation where we can improve the vaccine according to the changing situation. This cannot be done every three months, however, it may be possible to do it every year.”
Dr. Paul said, we are looking at the situation with respect to Omicron and the world is trying to understand its science. But today and in the times to come, we should try to complete the task of giving each adult two vaccines for Covid. ,
