Tokyo: Concerns have increased after a total of 4,058 record cases of Covid-19 were reported amid the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. City Hall gave this information on Saturday. Critics have long called for the Olympics to be postponed or canceled as the Games attract millions of athletes, corporate sponsors, and the media from around the world.
Players are being tested every day for the coronavirus. The infection was confirmed on Saturday in 21 people working in the Olympics, none of whom were athletes. The infection has been confirmed in 241 people in the Games, of whom 23 are athletes.
In Japan, more than 15,000 people have died due to Covid-19. Tokyo’s neighboring Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa prefectures are reporting record daily cases.
