New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer, has achieved a remarkable milestone in its journey toward global dominance. The company announced that it has surpassed 30 lakh car exports, marking a major achievement in its efforts to expand internationally. The historic 30 lakhth unit was part of a batch of 1,053 vehicles, including popular models like Celerio, Fronx, Baleno, Ciaz, Dzire, and S-Presso, shipped to overseas markets.
A Legacy of Exports: From 1986 to 2024
Maruti Suzuki’s export journey began in 1986, with its first shipment of 500 units to Hungary. Over the years, the company has steadily scaled new heights:
- 2012-13: Crossed its first 10 lakh exports milestone.
- 2020-21: Reached the 20 lakh units mark.
- 2024: Surpassed the most recent 10 lakh units in just 3 years and 9 months, highlighting a sharp acceleration in export growth.
Expanding Footprint Across Global Markets
The company’s vehicles are now exported to over 100 countries across regions such as Africa, Asia, Latin America, and West Asia. Among its key international markets are South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Chile, where its vehicles are sold under the Suzuki brand.
Rising Demand for New Models
Recently, the Grand Vitara and the iconic Jimny have been added to Maruti Suzuki’s export lineup, witnessing significant demand in international markets. The company has also begun exporting the Fronx crossover SUV to countries like Japan, showcasing its commitment to introducing diverse models to cater to global preferences.

With exports having tripled in the past four years, Maruti Suzuki is now gearing up for even bigger goals. The company has set an ambitious target of exporting 7.5 lakh units annually by 2030-31, signaling its intent to cement its position as a global leader in the automotive industry.
