Kolkata: Packs of currency notes have been found in Gajol in Malda district after over Rs 50 crore was recovered from the flat of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of former minister Partha Chatterjee, in the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. The CID raided the house of a fisherman in Gajol, where during the search, the agency recovered Rs 1 crore 30 lakh. At the same time, a machine has been brought to count the notes.
According to news agency ANI, the name of the fisherman associated with the fish business is Jaiprakash Saha. He does the fish business by leasing out various water lands and ponds. His name had cropped up during his recent arrest. The Superintendent of Police said that the police are giving full help to the CID. Special care is being taken to avoid any untoward situation.
Special Superintendent of CID said that we had received information that a person has kept a lot of cash in his house, which is related to a case of drug smuggling. Further investigation is on.
Crores of rupees were received from the owner of the house
It is noteworthy that the house from where the bundles of notes were recovered. The house was dilapidated, there is a small iron gate in front of the house and it is a one-storeyed house. There is no plaster in the house. But the surprising thing is that crores of rupees have been received from the owner of that house in the CID Raid.
Allegation of illegal transactions
It is worth noting that earlier the police had arrested a businessman in Gangarampur. He was also accused of illegal transactions. It is being told that the person is a relative of Jayaprakash. It is alleged that Jayaprakash used to get money from various types of smuggling including cow smuggling from across the border.
