Beijing: Three sailors were killed when two ships crashed at the mouth of the Yangtze River in China, while rescue workers are also searching for the missing five sailors on Monday. Government broadcaster CCTV has broadcast theatrical footage in which crew members are hauling 11 out of 16 sailors aboard the cargo vessel Xinchisheng-69.

Three of those sailors had no signs of life. It is noteworthy that the Yangtze River is China’s busiest river in terms of transportation and it falls north of Shanghai, the commercial hub in the East China Sea, so ships come from all directions. Government media reported that the cargo vessel Osiana lost control at around midnight on Sunday and collided with the Shinchisheng-69. This led to the sinking of the Shencheng-69 ship. According to the Chinese newspaper China Daily, the vessel had 650 cargo containers loaded.
