BEIJING / ISLAMABAD: China launched the first of four modern warships being built for Pakistan at the Hudong Zhongzhuah Shipyard in Shanghai on Sunday. Pakistan’s government-run news agency APP said that with the launch of the first vessel of the Type-054 category frigate, a new chapter has been written in Pakistan-China defense relations. It said that it is equipped with modern surface, subsurface, anti-aircraft warfare management system.
Pakistan signed an agreement with China Shipbuilding Trading Company Limited in 2017 for this. The nature of the agreement and the price of the vessels were not disclosed.
