CBI raids former Jet Airways promoter Naresh Goyal’s home and offices, case related to bank scam

New Delhi: The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) on Friday raided several locations while taking action in the 538 crore bank scam case. In this, the locations of Naresh Goyal, former promoter of Jet Airways, have also been raided. According to CBI sources, raids are being conducted on several other accused including several former directors of Jet Airways. Sources said that the premises of Jet Airways in Delhi and Mumbai, the premises of former Airways officials, and Goyal are being raided. The first case was registered regarding bank fraud.

In this raid, the CBI raided the residences and offices of former airline director Gaurang Anand Shetty along with Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita. A loan of about 538 crores was taken by Jet Airways from Canara Bank. Action can also be taken against some government employees and others in this regard. According to the central agency, he allegedly diverted funds among other irregularities, news agency PTI said.

Jet Airways, once India’s largest private carrier, suspended its operations in April 2019 due to a severe cash crunch and mounting debt. After a long-drawn insolvency process, in June 2021 the airline was taken over by a consortium of Jalan-Kalrock.
