New Delhi: The Government of India has started the Ayushman Bharat Scheme to provide treatment facilities to the needy citizens of the country. Now a case of error has come to the fore. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of the country has made a shocking disclosure about this.
The CAG has said in its audit report that under this scheme such patients are also taking benefits, that were earlier shown dead. Not only this, the CAG said that more than 9 lakh beneficiaries of the AB-PMJAY scheme have been found linked to only one mobile number.
6.97 crore was paid
The biggest flaw in the CAG report has been revealed that under this scheme such patients are getting treated, who were shown to have already died. An analysis of the data on death cases in TMS revealed that 88,760 patients died during treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. A total of 2,14,923 claims relating to new treatment in respect of these patients have been reflected in the system as paid. The CAG noted that in about 3,903 cases involving the above claims, the claim amount was paid to the hospitals. Of these, the payment related to 3,446 patients was Rs 6.97 crore.
Maximum scam in five states including MP
According to the CAG report, the maximum number of cases of claiming treatment for dead persons have been reported in five states of the country. These include Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Kerala.
The CAG report also pointed out that the successful payment of such claims without verifying the requisite tests by the State Health Agencies (SHAs) indicated a major lapse. The report also revealed that the same beneficiary of the scheme was admitted to multiple hospitals at the same time. Earlier, in July 2020, the National Health Authority (NHA) had also brought this issue to the fore.
