New Delhi: On the government’s order to vacate Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s government bungalow in New Delhi, the main opposition party on Thursday claimed that the BJP government should not silence the granddaughter of Congress and Indira Gandhi by such ‘petty political steps’ Can. Party General Secretary KC Venugopal alleged in a statement, “Priyanka Gandhi has been given notice by the government to vacate the official residence due to BJP’s hatred of the Nehru-Gandhi family and the politics of vengeance.”
He said, “SPG security was given to the Nehru-Gandhi family after the assassination of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. This SPG protection was withdrawn only because of political vendetta. ” Venugopal alleged, “Sending Priyanka Gandhi a notice to vacate the house is part of an effort to risk her life.” Despite continuous reports from central agencies about the threat to the Gandhi-Nehru family, their SPG security was removed. ”
He claimed, “Priyanka Gandhi will continue to raise her voice against the anti-people policies of the BJP governments of the Center and Uttar Pradesh… The BJP cannot silence Indira Gandhi’s granddaughter Priyanka Gandhi and the Congress party with cheap and trivial political steps.”
Significantly, the government on Wednesday asked Priyanka to vacate the bungalow in New Delhi within a month as she is not entitled to get residential facility after SPG security is withdrawn.
