Yerevan: Following the agreement reached with Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan-Armenia War) announced on Tuesday morning that they would cease fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh region on the Azerbaijani border and controlled by the Armenian ethnic group. Under the agreement, about 2,000 Russian peacekeepers have been deployed in the area. After the Russian-led peace agreement, there was a wave of happiness in Azerbaijan, but some people in Armenia have expressed anger over it.

According to the terms of the Russian peace agreement, Azerbaijan will now be able to control the territories it snatched from Armenia during the war. Explain that Nagorno-Karabakh has been under the control of Armenian-backed Armenian ethnic forces since the separatist war in 1994 and that an estimated 30,000 people have been killed so far in this war. Fresh fighting in the area began on September 27.

Significant gains, including the capture of Shushi on Sunday
A ceasefire was declared several times to stop the conflict but it was soon violated. The ceasefire announced on Tuesday is expected to continue as Azerbaijan has made significant gains, including the capture of the strategically important city of Shushi in Nagorno-Karabakh on Sunday.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikolai Pashinin wrote on Facebook that the decision to stop the war was painful for him personally and for his countrymen. Shortly after the prime minister’s announcement, thousands of people gathered in the main square of the Armenian capital, Yerevan, to protest the agreement. The protesters were chanting slogans that we cannot leave our land and are looking for an alternative to Pashinin.
