Islamabad: A Hindu temple more than 100 years old has been attacked by a group of unknown people in Rawalpindi city of Pakistan. This has been said in the complaint received by the police. The renovation work of this temple is in progress. According to the complaint, in the Purana Qila area of the city, at 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, a group of 10 to 15 people attacked the temple and broke the staircase along with the main gate and another door of the upper story.
According to the news of ‘Dawn’ newspaper, Evacuey Trust Property Board (ETPB) North Zone security officer Syed Raza Abbas Zaidi complained to the Banni police station in Rawalpindi, stating that the construction and renovation work of the temple for the last one month Its going on. He said that there was some encroachment in front of the temple, which was removed on 24 March. Religious activities have not started in the temple and no idol has been kept for worship there. They have demanded legal action against those who harm the temple and its sanctity.
Earlier, the encroachers had occupied and built shops and tracks around the temple for a long time. The district administration, with the help of the police, recently removed all kinds of encroachments. The renovation work started after the temple was encroached. Meanwhile, temple administrator Om Prakash confirmed the incident and said that soon after receiving the information, the police personnel of Rawalpindi reached there and controlled the situation.
According to the news of The Express Tribune, Prakash said that the police is stationed outside the temple as well as his house. However, he said that Holi will not be celebrated in the temple.
