New Delhi: In April and May, the country is witnessing strange weather (Weather Update). People are feeling cold in the summer season. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted sunny days for some states and heavy rain for others. There is a possibility of cloudy skies and moderate rain in both the capital cities of Delhi and Mumbai. The IMD said that a cyclonic storm is likely to form in the southeast of the Bay of Bengal around May 8′. The name of the cyclonic storm is Mocha.
West Bengal and Odisha will also be affected by this. According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Sunday to Wednesday. IMD said that during the cyclone, there is also a possibility of wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 kmph in the surrounding areas. In a report from India, it has been said that the wind speed can also cross 70. It has been said in the report that the wind speed can reach 60-70 kmph and it is likely to run at a speed of 80 kmph from May 10.
Alert issued in Odisha
The Odisha government has asked the collectors of 18 coastal and adjoining districts to be prepared for any eventuality in view of the forecast of a cyclonic storm. The Meteorological Office said that it is likely to intensify further in the southeastern part of the Bay of Bengal on Monday. After this, it is likely to intensify further almost northwards towards the central Bay of Bengal. (IMD) Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that ‘the speed and other parameters of the system can be provided after the formation of a low-pressure area on Sunday.’
Yellow warning of rain with thunderstorms has been issued for many districts of Odisha including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Puri. In the advisory issued by the state government, Special Relief Commissioner Satyavrat Sahu has advised the districts to be prepared to deal with any situation. People were told to watch the weather and seek safe shelter during thunderstorms, and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
Mumbai weather
In its forecast for May 4, the IMD had said that Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra would receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the next few days till May 8. On Friday, Mumbai’s temperature was 28.6 degree Celsius, while the humidity was 70 percent. A report in The Free Press Journal said that Mumbai will be partly cloudy to cool down the heat. Light rain/thundershowers are also likely to occur in the next 24 to 48 hours. The report states that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degree Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
