Mumbai: While Ramnavmi was celebrated with full enthusiasm and special worship across the country on Thursday, in many states including Maharashtra, incidents of violence, arson, and vandalism also took place during this holy festival.
A young man lost his life in Sambhajinagar in tension and violence just before Ram Navami. In fact, after a minor clash between two groups here, the matter reached violence and arson. The entire incident took place on the intervening night of last Wednesday and Thursday outside a famous Ram temple located in the Kiradpura area of the district.
After this, in another incident, Mumbai DCP Ajay Bansal said that tension prevailed for some time during the Ram Navami procession in the Malvani area, but the police handled it and the situation is under control. One person suffered minor injuries in the incident. Legal action is being taken and further investigation is on.
At the same time, the police said that now 20 people have been detained after a scuffle broke out between two groups yesterday during the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra in Malad’s Malvani area. The situation was tense for some time but is now under control. A case has been registered against more than 300 unidentified people for vitiating the atmosphere in the area.
On the other hand, in the Sambhajinagar case, the police again formed 10 teams to nab the people responsible for the incident and now have registered cases against 400 to 500 people. CM Eknath Shinde informed us that the situation is currently under control.
On the incident, CM Eknath Shinde told reporters that, I have spoken to the Police Commissioner and the DGP. At present, the situation is under control. The police are doing their job. There is a Ram temple there. There the tension increased. At this time the whole area is calm. Everyone needs to maintain peace. Ram Navami is celebrated. In our state, we celebrate festivals of all religions together.
Taking major action on the matter, the police have registered a case against about 400 to 500 unknown people. This case has been registered in the Jinsi police station on the above matter. The miscreants have also damaged 15 to 20 vehicles.
