54 more PIA employees removed on fake degrees, narcotics, other misconduct

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) (FIA) fired 54 more employees due to fake degrees, use of drugs, and poor performance. According to the Dawn newspaper, seven employees were removed from service for providing fake documents, eight for absenteeism, two for taking bribes, four for immoral acts, and one for intoxication. In addition, two employees were removed on charges of theft.

The airline has also given commendation letters to 13 employees for the outstanding performance and seven employees have been given incentives. In this way, the airline has laid off 220 employees in the last four months.

A campaign against unskilled and irresponsible employees at PIA was launched after the investigation report of Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan in the wake of the Karachi plane crash on 22 May in the country.
