Satna: For the demand of compensation from the Power Grid Company in Satna district, farmers have been staging an indefinite protest by climbing the tower of the high tension line for about 20 days. Now the local MLAs have written a letter to the CM taking care of them, but the farmers are not ready to come down until the demand is met.

In Pithorabad village under Uchehra tehsil of Satna district in Madhya Pradesh, Dhartiputra farmers are staging a life-threatening demonstration demanding compensation. Since the day of Birsa Munda Jayanti, these farmers have been adamant on demanding compensation by climbing the tower of the high tension line. They say that the Power Grid Company took their land but the compensation has not been received yet. Even after demanding compensation for the last several years, their problem has not been solved till date.

Farmers say that they approached the High Court and the court had also fixed the rate of compensation, yet the problem has not been solved yet, so the farmers have to take this step. These five farmers are living by tying cots on the tower. Risking their lives, they have been climbing here for almost 20 days, even after all the efforts of the police and the administration, they are not ready to come down.

MLA had to write a letter
The farmers who climbed the tower are Ramnath Kol, Matadin Kol, Rajneesh Kushwaha, Shivkumar Kushwaha, Dharmendra Kushwaha, who have taken a pledge that they will come down only if they get compensation. Seeing the stubbornness of the farmers, the local Maihar MLA Narayan Tripathi has written a letter to the Chief Minister of the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, demanding a solution to the problem of the suffering farmers, he has asked the farmers to pay the compensation according to the law.

Were climbing the tower for 15 days in the month of June
According to the information, in the past also in the month of June, some farmers demonstrated by climbing the tower for 15 days. At that time the district administration had given assurance to the farmers, after which they got down. But the problem could not be resolved even after five months, after which these five farmers are staging a sit-in on the tower for an indefinite period.
