The Association for Democratic Reforms has released a report for leaders leaving the party in this way and joining the other party. According to which, by 2016-2020, 170 Congress MLAs have left the party and joined other parties. During this time, Congress lost its government in five states.

The maximum change in five years
According to the report, from 2016 to 2020, the most contingent change has taken place. In these five years, 405 MLAs from national and regional parties across the country joined the second party and contested again. The highest number of 185 MLAs have joined BJP (BJP). At the same time, 25 Telangana Rashtra Samiti and 28 Congress have joined.

The report said that, along with MLAs, MPs have also changed the terms. During the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections, MPs have also changed. Five BJP MPs joined the other party during the 2019 general assembly elections. At the same time, in the last five years, seven Rajya Sabha MPs of Congress have joined the other party. At the same time, 19 MP Rajya Sabha MP went to the election on the ticket of another party.

Government of five states
The government of five states has fallen due to the change of party of MLAs. In which Congress has suffered the most damage. Between 2016-20, Congress has lost government. These states include Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh.
