Islamabad: Finally approving the sending of an elephant named ‘Kavaan’ in the zoo of Islamabad, which attracts the attention of animal rights activists from all over the world was given. The animal welfare group working, in this case, gave this information on Saturday.
Kavan’s supporters called him the “world’s loneliest elephant” who had been living at the zoo in Islamabad for more than 35 years. “Four Paws” institution spokesman Martin Boyer said the elephant was finally given medical clearance to travel, most likely to be taken to Cambodia, where it would find better companions and conditions.
He said that the heavy elephant Kavaan underwent a full medical examination on Friday. In May, Pakistan’s High Court ordered the closure of the Marghazar Zoo in Islamabad. The American singer Cher campaigned for the rehabilitation of the zoo to rescue Kavaan from the terrible conditions and attracted the attention of animal activists around the world.
In a statement released on Saturday, Boyer said, “Unfortunately, due to the delay in the removal of the two lions, they lost their lives in July. Then they were killed by local cattle operators setting fire to their enclosure to carry the lions into the vehicle. ” He said Four Paz was invited by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board to rescue the remaining animals of the zoo. Kavan was still forced to live in solitary life in a small enclosure.
