New Delhi: World Health Day is celebrated by WHO every year on 7th April all over the world. The World Health Organization organizes this day (World Health Day 2023) with the aim of spreading awareness among people about health-related issues and informing people about research and new medicines being done in the field of medicine.

History and Importance of World Health Day
With the aim of promoting health, serving the vulnerable, and keeping the world safe, in the year 1948, all the countries of the world together laid the foundation of WHO. So that everyone can stay healthy. On this day, World Health Day was started as the Foundation Day of WHO. Two years after this, for the first time in 1950, World Health Day was celebrated worldwide on 7th April, and whose order continues even today.

WHO i.e. World Health Organization sets the theme for World Health Day every year and this day is celebrated on the basis of the same theme. This year the theme of World Health Day has been kept “Health for All”. Which reflects the thinking that health is a basic human right. This year WHO is celebrating its 75th anniversary. To make this day special, WHO will also assess the public health successes that have improved the quality of life during the last seven decades.

  1. According to WHO, two billion people remain deprived of health facilities. This is because they do not have money to spend on health.
  2. Around 930 million people around the world have to spend ten percent or more of their household budget on health. Due to this their financial condition is getting worse.
  3. Till now 30 percent of the world’s population has not been able to reach even essential health services.
