Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed apprehensions that the number of hospitalizations and deaths may increase due to the new variant of the corona. Regarding Omicron, WHO said- ‘Now that cases related to variants of concern are increasing worldwide, we fear that the number of hospitalizations and deaths may increase.’ WHO has also said that about Omicron. More data is still needed for more clear information.
WHO has also appealed to countries around the world to do maximum data collection of Omicron. The organization believes that the Omicron variant can leave its mark in the world, but it is too early to say anything about it. According to the organization, as the data comes to the fore, the picture will become clearer.
Omicron also reduces the effectiveness of the vaccine
Let us inform that a day earlier, WHO had said on the basis of a study that the Omicron variant spreads faster than the delta as well as reduces the effect of the vaccine. But on the other hand, it has also been said that the infection caused by Omicron is less lethal than the Delta variant. The symptoms seen in an infected person are much less severe than in Delta.

How effective is the two-dose vaccine?
Meanwhile, a study by Oxford University has revealed that the two-dose vaccine does not produce enough antibodies against Omicron. British scientists have found that Omicron can increase infection in people who have had prior vaccinations.
The risk of community infection is much higher than in Delta
According to the research done so far, Omicron does not cause serious infections, but the risk of community infection is much higher than that of Delta. In the cases reported so far, the symptoms have not been found to be serious in the infected person. It is quite lightweight. But the WHO has also said that all these conclusions have been drawn on the basis of very early studies. It is not right to reach any conclusion on the basis of the study done so far.
