WhatsApp announced its Disappearing messages feature earlier this month. Now this phone has been launched for all Android and iOS users. As the name suggests, messages will disappear after enabling this feature. WhatsApp users can use ‘Disappearing Message’ anytime, but with this feature, you will not get the option to customize. That is, once you enable this feature, all the new messages will expire after 7 days.
This clearly means that users will not have the option to set a time to delete messages for this feature. This feature can also be used on WhatsApp’s Android, iOS and WhatsApp Web. It can be activated in one-on-one chat as well as group chat. But only admin can use this feature for group.
If you want to use this feature, you need to update to the latest version of WhatsApp. WhatsApp will notify you when Disappearing Chat is turned on. The other person in the chat can also disable this feature on their own.
There are some limitations with this feature of WhatsApp. According to the report, if you do not open the message for 7 days, the message will disappear, but if you have not cleared the notification panel, you will be able to check the message from there.
Apart from this, it was also stated that if the user responds by quoting a Disappearing message then the quoted text will be present in the chat after seven days. Also, if the Disappearing Message is forwarded to a user whose ‘disappearing message’ feature is OFF, he will not have this message disappear.
