What is ATAGS?
ATAGS is an indigenous long-range caliber howitzer gun that was launched by DRDO in 2013 under the ATAGS project to replace the old Army guns with modern 155 mm artillery guns. The armament system of the ATAGS consists mainly of the barrel, breech mechanism, muzzle brake, and recoil mechanism, as compared to the rusting old cannon, which gives the Army longer range, accuracy, and greater lethality for firing ammunition with 155 mm caliber. Provides capability. Also, this cannon is configured with a state-of-the-art electric drive to ensure maintenance-free and reliable operation for a long time.

Can target up to 52 km
The ATAGS cannon can hit the target very accurately even on a target that is not visible to the eyes. This artillery gun is two tons lighter than the guns of its class and is designed to achieve better precision and greater range. According to DRDO, ATAGS capable of firing five rounds continuously at a time with a range of 52 km does not give the enemy a chance to recover. At present, defense experts are working to increase the range of ATAGS to more than 60 km with the help of ramjet propulsion.
