Hanoi: At least 22 army personnel were buried under the debris due to a landslide on Sunday in the middle of continuous heavy rains in the central part of Vietnam. The official Vietnam News Agency reported that a landslide in Kuang Tri province broke rocks and fell on top of an army camp in the foothills of the hill.
Eight people managed to save their lives while 22 others are feared buried under the rubble. According to the agency, around 100 rescuers have been involved in relief and rescue operations and three bodies have been recovered from the debris. The area has been raining for a week. On Thursday, 13 people were killed, including 11 military officers, in a landslide in Thua Thinhue.
