New Delhi: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary on Friday. Shastri was born on this day in 1904 in Uttar Pradesh. He was the second Prime Minister of India.
Vice President’s Secretariat quoted Naidu as saying, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. With due respect to his virtuous memory on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji who invoked the youth power of India for nation-building.” You have faithfully followed the Gandhian Jeevan Mantra of “simple life high thought”.
