New Delhi: The Ministry of Defense on Tuesday announced that Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar will be the next Navy Chief. Vice Admiral Kumar is currently the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. He will take over the command of the Navy on November 30 after the current Chief of the Navy, Admiral Karambir Singh, retires.

“The government has appointed Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command as the next Navy Chief,” the ministry said in a statement. This order will come into effect from noon on November 30.”

During a long and remarkable stint of 39 years in the Navy, Vice Admiral Kumar held many responsibilities.
