Vacationers queue up, Oyo floods with hotel bookings

New Delhi: With the corona epidemic under control and the lifting of Covid-related restrictions, there has been a queue for vacationers. There is a huge jump in the booking of hotels at all the popular tourist places in the country. It is expected that this summer vacation will prove to be a boon for the hotel industry, which has been hit by the epidemic for the last two years due to the influx of tourists.

The sharp jump in hotel booking is being gauged from the data of hospitality technology platform OYO. Record bookings of more than 8 lakhs were done on Oyo’s platform in a single week. It is known from this that what is the trend of tourists.

Increased demand for tourist destination
Oyo said that in the period 11-17 April, more than 8 lakh bookings were done mainly through its app, website, and corporate booking. Of these, Manali, Haridwar, Amritsar, Goa, and Mysore had the highest booking. For April 16, these places had 100 percent occupancy. Last week was a long weekend from 14-17 April. In view of this, the tourists enjoyed the holidays a lot.

Holidays in schools from next month
Apart from this, summer vacations are going to start in schools from next month i.e. May. Even on these holidays, people have made plans to travel. OYO Senior Vice President (Product and Chief Service Officer) Shrirang Godbole said that there is a significant increase in bookings for major tourist destinations in the country. Our data shows that the demand for hotels has increased significantly for Gangtok, Srinagar, Coorg, McLeodganj, Nainital, Rishikesh, Darjeeling, Manali, and Shillong.

Due to relaxation in restrictions of Covid-19, more vaccinations, an increase in air travel, school holidays, and increased demand for travel, hotel bookings for summer holidays are registering a significant increase.
