Washington: US President Joe Biden has announced an immediate US $200 million aid to Ukraine for additional weapons and defense equipment. In a tweet from the White House, it was said that this is the unprecedented fourth aid to Ukraine in less than a year. Ukraine has received more than $1.2 billion in US defense aid since January 2021. Foreign Minister Antony Blinken also made a tweet about this. US media reports said that a Biden administration official told that the US $ 200 million in military aid would be given to Ukraine immediately.

The official said it would include anti-armour, anti-aircraft systems, and small arms to assist Ukraine’s military, which is facing an unprovoked attack by Russia. While Ukraine had earlier claimed that Russian forces fired at a convoy evacuating women and children in the Kyiv region, killing seven people, including a child. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said in a tweet that the Russians opened fire on a convoy of women and children in the Kyiv region. Those who were going out in an attempt to clear the capital from the Green Corridor already made it on the basis of consent. Seven people have died in this brutal attack, including a child.

The Kyiv Independent claims that the attack took place on March 11, when a group of women and children were leaving the village of Peremoha in Kyiv Oblast using the approved Green Corridor. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the Russian military of attacking the humanitarian corridor. Whereas Ukraine’s presidential aide Mykhailo Podolik said that talks with the Russian delegation are continuing through video conference.

According to state media, the top priorities of the talks include arranging humanitarian corridors, especially for the city of Mariupol. Delegations from both the countries have met face to face three times before but to no conclusive result. The last face-to-face meeting of the representatives of Russia and Ukraine was held on 7 March.
