Washington: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (FDA) Advisory Committee approved the emergency use of the Covid-19 Vaccine developed by Moderna. Pfizer’s emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine was approved about a week ago.
The FDA’s Vaccine and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, consisting of independent scientists and public health experts, said in a meeting on Thursday, Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine ‘mRNA-1273 ′ ( MRNA-1273) voted in its favor, recommending emergency use.
The FDA on Friday approved the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German partner BioNotech. So far, more than 3,10,000 people have died in the US due to this dangerous virus.
Food and Drug Commissioner Stephen Han said the FDA has informed the company that further approvals for emergency use of the vaccine will be completed soon, in line with the findings of the meeting of the advisory committee on Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine. He said that the agency has also informed the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Operation Warp Speed in this regard so that they can start work on their plans for vaccine distribution.
