New Delhi: Two FIRs have been registered against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Delhi’s Connaught Place police station on Friday. Delhi Police has registered the first FIR under the POCSO Act against Brij Bhushan in connection with the sexual exploitation of a minor wrestler. Whereas, the second FIR has been done in the case of the sexual exploitation of other 6 female wrestlers. Delhi Police gave this information.
Two FIRs were lodged at the Connaught Place police station against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by women wrestlers, said DCP Pranav Tayal.
Tayal said, “The first FIR pertains to the allegations made by a minor victim, relating to the humiliation of Vinay under the POCSO Act as well as relevant sections of the IPC. Whereas, the second FIR has been registered under relevant sections related to outraging modesty to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the complaints given by other, adult complainants.
Significantly, on April 21, 7 female wrestlers, including a minor, complained of sexual exploitation against Brij Bhushan Singh. But the case was not registered. After this, the wrestlers filed a petition in the Supreme Court. During the hearing here, the police had talked about registering a case against the WFI president.
Earlier, during a conversation with news agency ANI on Friday, Brij Bhushan Singh said that the matter is before the Supreme Court. I welcome whatever decision the court has taken today. I have faith in the decision of the Supreme Court and the investigation process of the police. Wherever my cooperation is required in the investigation, I will cooperate. He said, by now the FIR must have been registered. I will follow (the law), I have been doing that. The matter is before the Supreme Court, I have not been saved. I am at my residence.
