New Delhi: Twitter has responded to the notice received from the Central Government regarding the new guidelines. On Monday, a company spokesperson said in response, “Twitter has been and will remain fully committed to India. We have assured the Government of India that Twitter is making every effort to comply with the new guidelines, and an overview of our progress has been duly shared. We will continue our constructive dialogue with the Government of India.”
It is to be known that Twitter and the central government are face to face regarding the new rules. The Union IT Ministry had issued a notice to Twitter regarding the compliance of the new rules. In which it was warned to take action under Indian law for not celebrating the new rules.
The notice stated that, “Despite operating in India for over a decade, it is hard to believe that Twitter has refused to develop a mechanism to enable the people of India to address their issues on its platform in a timely and timely manner. It would have helped in the solution through due process in a transparent manner.”
The ministry said that although these rules are effective from May 26, 2021, but in good faith, Twitter Inc is given an opportunity to comply with the rules through a final notice. He has to comply with the rules immediately. If she fails to do so, the exemption from the liability which she has got will be forfeited. Also, he has to be ready for action under the IT Act and other penal provisions.
