
Ajmarin (Syria): More than 4000 people have been confirmed dead so far in a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 that rocked southeastern Turkey and southern Syria on Monday. The number of deaths may increase further. It is being told that more than 15000 people are injured in this accident. Hundreds of people are still buried under the debris. Rescue is on. Hundreds of buildings have collapsed due to the earthquake. The casualty toll is expected to rise as rescuers are still searching the affected areas for people trapped under the debris.
The tremors were felt on both sides of the border before sunrise and people had to come out despite the cold and rain. The deadly earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria has so far killed more than 4,000 people, reports the Associated Press. Turkey was hit by 3 consecutive earthquakes of magnitude 7.8, 7.6, and 6.0.
Many buildings have collapsed due to the earthquake and aftershocks are still being felt. Rescue workers and residents in various cities are trying to pull out survivors from collapsed buildings. Patients, including newborns, had to be evacuated from a Turkish hospital and several hospitals in Syria that were destroyed in the quake.

Indias NDRF team left
On the other hand, the NDRF team from Uttar Pradesh with a trained dog squad and necessary equipment left from Hindon airport in Ghaziabad for search operations in the earthquake-affected area of Turkey. NDRF, DIG Operation, and Training, Mohsen Shahedi said that many people have died due to the terrible earthquake in Turkey and Syria. In view of this, the Government of India has decided to send 2 teams of NDRF there. NDRF Deputy Commandant Deepak Talwar said that our team consists of 47 people in this rescue operation along with 3 senior officers. We also have paramedical staff and medical equipment with us.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was about 33 km from Gaziantep at a depth of 18 km. Its tremors were felt in the provinces. According to the survey, a few hours later another earthquake of magnitude 7.5 was felt, whose epicenter was just 100 kilometers away from the former’s epicenter. Turkey’s disaster management agency said it was an isolated earthquake and dozens more aftershocks were expected.
