New Delhi: Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title for a record fifth time. It defeated Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 Final on Tuesday. The biggest role in the victory of Mumbai Indians was played by the player who led the attack on Delhi Capitals last year. The name is Trent Boult. Interestingly, there were four matches between Mumbai and Delhi in the IPL, including the final. In all these four matches, Mumbai defeated Delhi and each time Trent Bolt took a wicket in the first over.
The final of IPL 2020 was played on Tuesday in Dubai. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 156 for 7. Mumbai Indians captained by Rohit Sharma achieved the target by losing 5 wickets with 8 balls remaining. New Zealand’s Trent Bolt took 3 wickets in the match and was the man of the match. Bolt took 25 wickets in the tournament. He finished third in the Purple Cap race. Only Kagiso Rabada and Jaspreet Bumrah could take more wickets than him.
Wickets for 2 in the first 3 overs
Delhi Capitals started badly. Trent Bolt moved Marcus Stoinis (0) off the first ball of the match. He then dismissed Ajinkya Rahane (2) in his second and third over of the match. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma then removed Trent Bolt from the bowling so that he could use him later. Bolt maintained his captain’s confidence and took the wicket of Shimran Heitmeyer in the 18th over. Bolt’s bowling analysis was 4-0-30-3.
9 wickets in 4 matches
There were four matches between Mumbai and Delhi in the IPL, including the final. In all these four matches, Mumbai defeated Delhi. Trent Bolt took 9 wickets in 4 matches. He took 3 wickets in the final and 2 wickets in qualifier-1. Bolt had earlier taken 3 wickets for Delhi on October 31. In the first encounter of the tournament, Bolt had already sent Prithvi Shaw of Delhi to the pavilion in the first over. His overall bowling analysis in 4 matches against Delhi was 14-0-96-9, which can be called extremely brilliant.
Bolt was also ignored for 18 wickets
New Zealand’s Trent Bolt was part of the Delhi Capitals team in 2018 and 2019. He took 18 wickets in 14 matches in 2018. In 2019, Delhi preferred Kagiso Rabada over Bolt. Due to this Bolt got very few matches to play. After this, Delhi handed over Bolt to him while trading with Mumbai Indians in November 2019. It must have been an insult to Trent Bolt that Delhi did not consider him worthy of being included in their squad. This left-handed bowler has now paid his dues from Delhi.
