New Delhi: Toyota is gearing up to introduce the latest entrant to its SUV lineup in India, the Urban Cruiser Taisor. Slated for an official unveiling on April 3, this compact SUV is poised to become the smallest offering in Toyota’s range. The Taisor is a rebadged iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, marking another collaborative effort between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, who have previously launched several models together.
Exterior Redesign Reflecting Baleno-Glanza Updates
The Urban Cruiser Taisor is expected to sport cosmetic modifications reminiscent of the updates seen in the Baleno-Glanza models. The base design, derived from the Baleno, will feature enhancements including a revamped headlamp cluster, contemporary LED daytime running lights, stylish alloy wheels, and updated tail lamps and rear bumper. These changes, however, will be confined to the SUV’s soft plastic components, leaving the sheet metal unchanged.
Interior Upgrades for Comfort and Style
Inside, the Taisor will boast a dashboard design similar to the Fronx, complemented by new upholstery for a fresh and exclusive feel. Toyota aims to differentiate the Taisor by offering it in select trims and enhancing the standard warranty, thereby elevating its appeal in the competitive compact SUV market.
Engine Options: A Blend of Efficiency and Performance
Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser Taisor is anticipated to inherit engine options from the Fronx. This includes the popular 1.2-litre petrol engine, favored by a majority of buyers, and possibly the introduction of a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol unit. Should Toyota opt to include the BoosterJet, it would signify the debut of a turbo-petrol motor within Toyota’s predominantly hybrid and diesel Indian lineup.
