New Delhi: Toyota has launched a new hybrid-electric SUV called the Crown Signia, which is based on the same platform as the Crown sedan, a high-riding sedan, and the Crown Sport SUV.
Design
The Crown Signia SUV has a distinctive design that combines the elements of a sedan and a crossover. It has a slightly inclined roofline, a five-door body, and a hammerhead nose styling. The front fascia has a unique grille, stylish headlamps, and slim LED daytime running lights. The rear end has wraparound taillamps and a dual exhaust system. The SUV has a low ground clearance, short overhangs, and large alloy wheels, giving it a sporty look.
The interior of the Crown Signia SUV is spacious, luxurious, and well-equipped. It has a 12.3-inch customizable digital display for the instrument cluster and another 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The seats are electrically adjustable, heated and cooled, and covered with leather or fabric and SofTex. The SUV also has a wireless charging slot, multiple USB ports, cup holders, and air vents for the front and rear passengers. The SUV also has a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a premium sound system.
Engine
The Crown Signia SUV is powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine that produces 243 bhp of power. The engine is paired with an electric motor and a battery pack, which enable the SUV to run in electric mode at low speeds and short distances. The SUV also has three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, which alter the throttle response, the steering feedback, and the suspension settings. The SUV has a rear-wheel-drive configuration and an automatic transmission.
Safety and variants
The Crown Signia SUV comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which is a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. It includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, road sign recognition, and parking assist. The SUV also has multiple airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, traction control, and hill start assist.
The Crown Signia SUV is available in two variants: Limited and XLE. The Limited variant has 21-inch wheels, leather seats with fancy stitching, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a rear-seat entertainment system. The XLE variant has 19-inch wheels, fabric and SofTex seats, a rear-view camera, and a standard infotainment system. Both variants have the same engine and safety features.
