Shimla: Torrential rain continues unabated in Himachal Pradesh. It has been raining in many areas of the state since Thursday night. It has been raining continuously since 6 am on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next 4 days in Himachal. The weather has remained bad in many areas including Mandi, Shimla since Friday morning. Chandigarh-Manali highway near 7 miles in Mandi district is closed due to rain and landslides. Efforts are being made to clear the road.

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty reached Manali late at night for the shooting of a Telugu film. He was coming from Chandigarh to Manali’s Bhuntar airport on a charter plane on Thursday morning, but it was not possible due to bad weather. Later he left for Manali by road from Chandigarh, but due to the construction of a four-lane between Mandi to Kullu, he got stuck in the jam. Later, arrangements have been made to stay in the hotel located in Manali’s horse race. He will stay here for 10 days. The shooting of the Telugu film will be done around Manali’s Solanganala, Naggar, and Manali.

House and cowshed collapsed in Thunag due to landslide
There was heavy rain in the Mandi district on Thursday. A gaushala and an under-construction house in Thunag have collapsed due to the landslide. At the same time, Chandigarh-Manali National Highway-3 remained closed for about three hours due to landslide near seven miles in the district on Thursday morning. During this, there were long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.

On Wednesday night, 66 in Gohar of Mandi district, 53 in Mandi-Kangra, 48 in Sundernagar, 39 in Pandoh, 33 in Dharamsala-Nagrota Surian, 24 in Baijnath, 19 in Shimla, 18 in Karsog-Jogindernagar, 15 in Narkanda, Arki 11 mm of rain has been recorded in Paonta Sahib, 10 in Paonta Sahib and 9 mm in Kufri. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Una was 36.6, Bilaspur 33.0, Hamirpur 32.8, Chamba 31.4, Bhuntar 31.2, Solan 31.0, Kangra 30.1, Sundernagar 29.8, Nahan 28.6, Dharamsala 28.2, Keylong 26.8, Shimla- Kalpa recorded 24.1 and Dalhousie 21.2 degree Celsius.

1 percent more rain than normal in a week
Himachal Pradesh has recorded 1 percent more rain than normal during the last week. From August 20 to 26, 51 mm of rain was recorded in the state. Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, and Solan districts received above-normal rainfall. Normal in Hamirpur and Kinnaur and less than normal in Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Una, and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Even under the monsoon season, the state has received 20 percent less rainfall than normal. Monsoon is expected to depart in Himachal by the end of September.
