New Delhi: Eid moon was not seen in any part of the country including Delhi, so the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday and Monday will be the 30th and last fast. Maulana Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that the Eid moon has not been seen in many parts of the country including Delhi, so the festival of Eid will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3.

“No moon sighting has been reported from any state including Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan,” he said. He said that Monday would be the 30th fast and the first day of Shawwal (the 10th month of the Islamic calendar) would be on Tuesday. Eid is on the first day of the month of Shawwal.

‘No news of moon sighting from any part of the country’
At the same time, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, said in a statement that there is no news of the sighting of the moon of Shawwal i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr from any part of the country. Bukhari said, “Eid will be on Tuesday, May 3. On the other hand, the Muslim organization Bhawar-e-Shariah Hind has also announced that the moon of Mithi Eid has not been seen in any part of the country on Sunday, so the festival of Eid will be celebrated in Delhi and other parts of the country on Tuesday.

The organization said in a statement, “Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur, Azamgarh and Sitapur, Bahraich, Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, Godhra in Gujarat, Dhule in Maharashtra, Bengaluru in Karnataka, Bengal, Assam, Kashmir, and Punjab, etc. have been contacted. Gaya, but there is no information about sighting the moon from anywhere. Muslim religious guru Rashid Firangi Mahali also announced that the moon of Shawwal was not visible and hence Eid would be celebrated on May 3.

The Islamic calendar is decided according to the moon
For Muslims, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, ‘Ramadan’, is going on in which the people of the community keep fasting. In the month of Ramadan, the fasting people do not eat or drink anything in the morning till the sunset. This month ends with the sighting of the moon of Eid. Let us tell you that in the Islamic calendar, the month is of 29 or 30 days, which is decided according to the moon.

Mufti Mukarram requested people to do ‘Fitra’ (charity) before the Eid prayers. He said that the middle-class family should give Fitra at the rate of Rs 60 per person while the upper middle-class family should give Fitra at the rate of Rs 80 per person.
