This film of Indian origin artist will be shown at COP26 summit

London: British Indian musician Soumik Dutta’s film ‘Songs of the Earth’ focused on climate change, based in Britain, will be screened at the COP26 summit in Glasgow next week. This is his directorial first film.

The London-based artist won the British Council’s ‘Creative Commission on Climate Change in February for developing a film and music project in collaboration with Earth Day Network. and brings together digital technology and offers innovative solutions. The film’s premiere is to be held on November 2. Dutt said, “The question in the form of the film and the album is whether our behavior as a human being is right in the long run.”

“As consumers, many of us are part of the cycle of buying and leaving. Sometimes polluted oceans, mountains of garbage, and toxic rivers do not always connect back to us. I would like young people to react to ‘Songs of the Earth’. Let them think that how they can bring small changes in the environment around them. Start giving importance to this behavior as a good citizen.

The 24-minute film has been animated by Indian painters Sachin Bhat and Anjali Kamat. It is based on the life of Asha, a young climate refugee from West Bengal who sets out in search of her missing father through the flooded shores of the Sundarbans delta, burning forests and melting polar ice. Dutt said, ‘This is my first short film whose story I have written, composed, and directed.’
