New Delhi: The agitation of farmers against agricultural laws is going to continue. Today, a meeting was held between the representatives of 35 farmers’ organizations and the Central Government at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. The meeting lasted for about 4 hours. However, this meeting was inconclusive. Now, on December 3, there will be another meeting between the farmers’ organizations and the central government.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “The meeting was good and we have decided that the talks will be held on December 3. We want a small committee to be formed but the farmer leaders wanted dialogue with all, we have no problem with that. ”
Tomar further said, “We appeal to the farmers to postpone the protests and come for talks. However, this decision depends on the farmers’ organizations and the farmers. ”
Chanda Singh, a member of the farmers’ delegation present at today’s meeting, said, “Our agitation against agricultural laws will continue and we will definitely withdraw something from the government. There will be a peaceful solution. We will come back for more discussions with them. “
After holding a meeting with the same Agriculture Minister, President of All India Federation of Farmers Prem Singh Bhangu said, “Today’s meeting was good and some progress has been made. During our next meeting with the government on December 3, we will explain to them that no farmer is a supporter of agricultural law. Our movement will continue. ”
The meeting was attended by representatives of farmers’ organizations along with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railway and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Prakash (Punjab MP).
Heavy security was in place around the venue. Hours before the meeting, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Tomar and Goyal and BJP chief JP Nadda had a wide-ranging discussion on farmers’ protest against the Centre’s new agrarian reform laws. No untoward incident has been reported since the violence on Friday and farmers in Punjab and Haryana continued to hold peaceful protests at the Singhu and Tikri borders.
