New Delhi: The Indian women’s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat, and Simranjit Kaur claimed a silver medal after losing to a Chinese Taipei trio in the third leg of the World Cup here on Sunday. . India thus ended its campaign in the competition with one gold and two silver medals. Two of these medals were received in the compound category. The women’s recurve team was seeded 13th as all three archers had finished outside the top 30 in the individual qualification round.

The Indian team could not impress in the final and lost 1–5 (53–56 56–56 53–56) to Chinese Taipei in straight sets. Chinese Taipei’s line-up also included Rio Olympic team bronze medalist Lei Chien Ying, and the third-seeded archer built up the pressure early on, hitting 10 twice and nine on four. At the same time, India made seven shots in the first set which proved to be the turning point. The Indian trio made a comeback to level the score with a win in the second set but that was not enough. In the next set, the Chinese Pipe archers maintained their consistency and won the gold medal.
