Kabul: After capturing in Afghanistan, the Taliban is targeting media persons and journalists. According to the news of Reuters, Taliban fighters have killed the relative of a journalist of Deutsche Welle, a German news channel working in Kabul. According to the report, Taliban fighters had entered the house in search of an Afghan journalist. During this shot his relative and injured another. The rest of the journalist’s family had somehow escaped from Kabul last month.
Deutsche Welle (DW) Director-General Peter Limberg says the brutality of the Taliban shows how threatened our employees and their families are in Afghanistan. It has become clear that the Taliban is already searching and targeting journalists in Kabul and other cities. Peter Limberg strongly condemned the killing and urged the German government to take action.
Peter Limberg issued a statement saying, ‘The family of one of our editors has been murdered by the Taliban. It shows the grave danger our employees and their families are in Afghanistan. It is clear that the Taliban are systematically searching for journalists in Kabul and other provinces. Not much time now.”
A Reuters report said the Taliban had searched the homes of at least three Deutsche Welle journalists. At the same time, the head of a local private channel Gargasht TV, Nematullah Hemat, has been kidnapped. According to government officials, Toofan Omar, the head of the private radio station Paktia Ghag, was shot by the Taliban.
