New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to consider a PIL filed to demand the imposition of President’s rule in the state by sacking the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackrey in Maharashtra. A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian hearing the video conference said that such a plea cannot be considered.

This petition was filed by a person named Vikram Gehlot. The bench told the petitioner, “As the petitioner, you are free to go to the President but do not come here.” Gehlot had alleged in the petition that the Maharashtra government was not functioning as per the provisions of the Constitution and the law in the state. The petition referred to the incidents of the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the demolition of the property of actress Kangana Ranaut as an example of poor law and order situation in Maharashtra. During the brief hearing on this petition, the bench expressed strong displeasure over the arguments made by the petitioner and questioned how it can be said on the basis of some incidents that the constitution is not being followed in the state. The bench said that Maharashtra is a big state.
