Jabalpur: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the Chief Secretaries of the states to comply with the BioMedical Waste Rules 2016, giving strict orders to the governments of all states. It has given two months time to implement this order. In such a situation, if the rules are not followed within the time limit, the state government will have to pay a huge fine of one crore rupees per month.
The NGT has also mentioned that the rules are not being followed in the disposal of the medical waste, PPE kits of the Corona patients during the Corona period. Also, 25 percent of the hospitals are being more careless about this, which can prove to be very harmful. While the Chief Secretary of the state was entrusted with this responsibility.
Order to be followed in two months
In such a situation, the NGT, with its strict order, has granted two months’ time to the state governments. Therefore, if the order is not followed, after two months, the Consumer Guidance Forum will file a contempt petition against the Chief Secretary.
Explain that in the year 2009, a public interest litigation was filed by the Citizens’ Consumer Forum in the Madhya Pradesh High Court for the non-disposal of toxic waste coming out of hospitals, which was transferred (transferred) to the NGT case for hearing by the High Court. In such a situation, after completing the hearing on August 7, the decision was reserved. After which the NGT has issued this order on the petition of the Citizen Consumer Guidance Forum, Jabalpur, and issued a directive to follow it.
